Dr. Suresh Parshuram Jagdale brings more than three decades of distinguished experience in public healthcare administration and clinical practice. With an accomplished career in the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening healthcare systems, managing large-scale public health programs, and improving hospital performance across multiple districts.
Dr. Jagdale completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Miraj (Shivaji University, Kolhapur) in 1983, followed by an MS in General Surgery in 1993 from the same institution. His clinical background combined with extensive administrative leadership enables him to guide healthcare initiatives with both medical insight and strategic oversight.
Over a 35-year career in the Maharashtra Public Health Department, Dr. Jagdale has served in several key leadership roles. As a Chief Medical Officer at Primary Health Centres in Nashik and Satara, he strengthened rural healthcare delivery and implemented essential health programs at the grassroots level. He also served as a Medical Officer and Head of the Surgery Department at Civil Hospitals in Kolhapur and Satara, where he led surgical services and trained healthcare professionals.
In senior administrative capacities, Dr. Jagdale served as District Civil Surgeon for Satara and Nashik, overseeing the management and operations of major district hospitals and public health infrastructure. His responsibilities included supervising medical teams, implementing national health initiatives, and ensuring quality healthcare delivery to large populations. He also contributed to health governance as Deputy Director of Health Services for the Nashik Division.
Dr. Jagdale has extensive experience in implementing national health programs under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, including initiatives under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). His leadership has been instrumental in driving public health interventions, strengthening hospital administration, and improving healthcare accessibility.
His contributions have been widely recognized at the national and state levels. Under his leadership, district hospitals received the National Kayakalp Award four times (2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019) for excellence in cleanliness, hygiene, and patient care. He was also honored with the “Goda Sanman” Award in 2019 for Best Health Officer in Nashik District. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jagdale played a key role in managing healthcare operations in Malegaon, one of the region’s most critical hotspots, ensuring effective implementation of response measures during an extremely challenging period.
After retirement from the services of the Government of Maharashtra, he has joined a very well-known Pravara Medical College, Loni, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Deemed to be University, as a Medical Superintendent, working since Oct 2021 at a 1275-bed hospital in an administrative capacity.
